Gary Kent Walth
Composer Gary Kent Walth is the Chair of the Music Department at the University of Wisconsin‑La Crosse where he conducts the award‑winning UW‑L Concert Choir. Walth has taught choral music education courses at UW‑L, including choral arranging, since the fall of 1993. He also serves as the Music Director of UW‑L's music theatre productions. His recently completed musical "If These Walls Could Talk" premiered in January of 2006. Walth's compositions include works for choral ensembles, choral/ orchestral works, vocal jazz arrangements and liturgical settings. Walth also serves as the Coordinator of Music at English Lutheran Church, La Crosse, Wisconsin.
Dr. Walth holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Concordia College, Moorhead. Minnesota and both Master of Music and a Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in Choral Conducting from the Conservatory of Music, University of Missouri‑Kansas City. Dr. Walth's composition teachers include Paul J. Christiansen, Ray Luedeke, and Gerald Kemner. He is also an active guest conductor throughout the United States, Canada and Great Britain.
